The Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development Georges Elanga Obam has donated the sum of 25 Million FCFA to the Bafoussam III Council to support victims of the Landslide in the Block 4 neighbourhood in Bafoussam.

According to reports, Minister Georges Elanga Obam who is on a working visit to the West region of Cameroon was at the landslide side this morning where he offered 25 Million CFA frs to the Bafoussam III Council to assist the victims of the natural disaster.

At about 10pm yesterday, a landslide reported at the Ngouache neighbourhood in the Bafoussam III Sub-Division of the West region of Cameroon destroyed over 13 homes and claimed the life of close to 40 persons.

Reports say so far, only one survival has been rescued from the rubble at the scene of the incident. In the meantime, rescue operations have intensified under the supervision of West Governor Awa Fonka Augustine reported to be at the scene since 2am.

There are fears that the situation may become worse in case it rains.
