The recently appointed new French Ambassador to Cameroon Christophe Guilhou has arrived Cameroon to take over from his counterpart Gilles Thibault whose three-year mandate has come to an end.

The diplomat who arrived Cameroon yesterday confirmed his presence in Yaounde in a tweet on his personal page that reads “Safely arrived in Yaounde and ready to foster the relations between France and Cameroon.”

Christophe Guilhou was appointed to replace Gilles Thibault last April 23, 2019. By then, he was still serving as French Ambassador to the Republic of Djibouti.

The 56 year old diplomat is amongst others a graduate in Political Sciences and Language and Eastern Civilisations.

Before Djibouti, HE Christophe Guilhou was France’ second representative to the United Arab Emirate and Syria, the diplomatic counsellor to the French Health Minister, civil servant in charge of economic questions at the United Nations to name but these.

He comes to take over Gilles Thibault at a time when Cameroon/France bilateral cooperation is witnessing an improvement with the recent signing of two agreements –the funding of the third phase of the French debt reduction development contract and the modernisation the National Museum.
