Four people are reported to have lost their lives and twelve others seriously injured following the collapse of a building in construction belonging to the DOVV Super Market at the Shell Nsimeyong neighbourhood in Yaounde.

The information was revealed by the military engineering corps after they had ended the search operation for victims buried under the rubbles on the site of the incident.

According to reports, amongst the four death, one of the victims died while been given medical attention at the Yaounde Central Hospital.

The twelve other injured for their part are presently on intensive care in the same hospital.

This follows the collapse of a building in construction last Friday December 20, 2019 at the Shell Nsimeyong neighbourhood in Yaounde.

After the incident, elements of the fire fighting brigade and those of the military engineering corps embarked in an operation to extract victims from the rubbles. The operation ended yesterday.

Though some attribute the cause of this regrettable incident to the use of poor quality material, the police have opened an investigation to determine the exact cause.
