It is regarding the dateline given by the African football confederation that the competition will be played in just six months in only four cities with two sub-pools of 13 and 12 clubs.
The football championship is set to begin on Wednesday, March 16 and will end on June 29. It is between this period of time that 25 teams coming from different corners of the country will challenge themselves so as to emerge champion for the 2022 football season.
Within these months, the transitory committee organising the championship has decided to split the teams in two sub-pools. The first is said to be made-up of 13 teams and the second of 12 teams.
The competition is announced to be tough as matches will be played each 48 hours. And to have a none stop championship, all the games shall be played in only four towns.
The playing sites are Yaounde, Douala, Bafoussam and Limbe. Thus giving the advantage of using all the sports infrastructures set up for the African cup of Nations the country hosted last January.
These decisions were drawn during a meeting of the football management transitory council and fécafoot leaders. The Secretary general of the council underscored that the first two of each sub-pool would face each other during cross-over games. It is from it that the season’s champion will be known.
Fécafoot officials say the latter will receive an envelope of CFA F 50 millions as reward. The institution also specified that it will financially assist all the teams regarding their housing and nutrition as all the teams will have a single headquarter during all the championship. In the Meantime, each team has already received 12 millions to get set for the championship.
As from Tuesday, March 15, all the teams engaged both in Elite 1 and 2 championship will receive their tournament licence. Though some teams like AS Fortuna as well as Foncha Street are still to complete their documents.
It was also decided during this meeting that PWD of Bamenda, winner of Cameroon’s cup last Sunday, will represent the country at the Caf confederation cup.
