Gabriel Zabo is the new head coach of Cameroon’s women’s national football team.

The football manager was appointed Friday June 18 following a decision by the Cameroon Football Federation, Fecafoot appointing a new management staff for the country’s women’s national team, including former international lioness Gaelle Enganamouit appointed Team Manager.

Gabriel Zabo thus replaces Alain Djeumfa who has been head coach of the indomitable lionesses since January 2019, appointed as the team headed into the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The competence of the former head coach was on many occasions questioned as his tactical supervision began yielding no fruits.

This change at the head of the female national team thus does not come as a surprise to many football pundits who had already requested for his departure following the unsuccessful expeditions of the lionesses lately, with the recent one being their inability to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The newly appointed head coach fondly referred to as el tactico has over ten years of experience in the Cameroon Elite One championship.

Before today’s appointment, he was the coach of Stade Renard of Melong, before then Colombe of Dja and Lobo and Avion.

Gabriel Zabo takes over after the women’s national team failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic games that begins in August this year.

His first challenge will be the next female Africa Cup of Nations coming up in Morocco.

Below is the decision by Fecafoot to appoint the new staff of the women’s national team.
