Cameroon will soon receive 400,000 doses of the AstraAzeneca vaccine to boost the fight against the COVID-19, officials have annouced.

According to the Permanent Secretary of the National Vaccination Program, Joshua Ndoula Shalom, the vaccines are expected in Cameroon on Saturday, April 17.

The arrival of the vaccines will further boost the fight against the pandemic after the frst 200,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccines were recieve.

For the moment, Joseph Ndoula  stressed that health personnel are the priority target for the start of the vaccination exercise.

Negotiations are underway to obtain additional doses of the vaccine in order to achieve substantial vaccination coverage, he added.

He was speaking at the start of the week as he accompanied the Minister of Public Health to launch the start of the vaccination process  in Yaounde.
