The National Coordinator of the MRC Women’s Wing, Bar Awasum Mispa Fri has been placed in pre-trial detention for a period of six months renewable at the Yaounde Kondengui Central prison over Saturday’s street protest.

She is accused of complicity in group rebellion and revolution after leading a staged protest Saturday November 21 to demand for the release of party President, Maurice Kamto who has has been under house arrest for over sixty days.

She and a group of women from the Cameroon Renaissance Movement party stormed the streets en route to Maurice Kamto’s resident protesting half naked with others dressed in black.

Some of them were arrested and later on released except Bar. Mispa and two other women.

In a message from her cell at the Yaounde Kondengui prison, Bar. Awasum says she was arrested and taken to the Nkoldongo police station and very late at night to the DRPJ with another supporter.

There, she was served a 15-day warning. On Monday, she was transferred to the Military tribunal where she was brought before the examining Magistrate.

The latter found her guilty of complicity in revolution and rebellion reprimanded by articles 74, 97, 114, and 157 of the penal code before signing her pre-trial detention for a period of six months renewable.
