The Palar Bridge linking the towns of Maroua to Mora and Kousseri in the Far North region of Cameroon have succumbed to floods triggered by heavy rains that have been hitting that part of the country for weeks now.

The bridge gave way early Monday August 31st due to the fury of the rains that hit the region on the eve.

Due to this collapse, circulation between the towns of Maroua and Mora that extends to Kousseri on the National N°1 have been halted.

Local authorities are yet to issue a statement on this incident.

The collapse of the Palar Bridge is just one among the numerous damage caused by recent heavy rains that flooded many parts of the Far North region of Cameroon.
