The Bamendjou council in the West region, has received a cash price for it’s role in promoting good governance.
This was during a ceremony organised Wednesday, 31st October 2018 in Yaounde and presided over by the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional development, Alamine Ousman Mey.
Going by state media reports, the Bamendjou council emerged first with a score of 87%.The best two councils from each region received F CFA 50million, while the third council got F CFA 25 million, for outstanding performance .
Apart from the Bamendjou council, thirty other municipal councils in Cameroon were equally awarded cash prizes for good governance.
The council were selected based on certain criteria like budgetary management, participation,transparency and local governance.
They were selected by the National Performance community driven program, PNDP
