At least three gunmen were killed last night in Bamenda, headquarter of the North West region during a shootout with security forces.
Two of the fighters were also arrested wearing military amulets while at least three security forces are said to have been injured in the course of the operation, sources said.
Sources say the the armed men launched an nattack around meta quarters, a neighbourhood in Bamenda late around 10pm posing a stiff resistance to security forces.
However, shooting resumed in the Bamenda II sub division after some armed men felled trees and blocked the road at Alabukam.
The Rapid Intervention Batallion launched on the neighbourhood around around 3am after they were hinted by an informant that armed men were cutting off the bridge over the Mezam River on the road to Mbengwi and felling trees to block the road.
