At least one person has been killed and 12 people injured this Thursday in clashes that erupted at Obala in the Centre region, between natives and Northerners, reports say.

The clashes are reported to have started by a dispute between two young men, an Obala native and a Northerner on Wednesday April 24, 2019.

The alleged brutal killing of the Northerner sparked off retaliations from his community which resulted to the clashes. As a result, 12 persons were injured.

The Divisional Officer of Obala, Patrick Simou informed about the situation reported to the scene and is said to have calm down the situation.

“Peace now reigns. We made sure the confrontations seize and we are working to make sure this peace is preserved” He said.

A meeting will be held tomorrow Friday to sensitize the population on the need to live together.
