At least seven people, including a baby are reported to have lost their lives and about eighteen others injured in a road accident which occurred in Lyongo village, along the Buea-Kumba road in the South West region of Cameroon Sunday September 27.

According to reports, the accident occurred when two over loaded vehicles collided in Lyongo village, on the outskirt of Buea, South West region of the country

Due to the violent nature of the collision, seven of those on board, including a baby died on the spot and about eighteen others were injured.

The later have been admitted at the Buea Regional Hospital, with four in critical condition for proper treatment.

According to Buea Regional Hospital officials some of those injured were admitted in a state of stupor.

Road accidents caused by overloading have been recurrent on major highways in most towns in Cameroon, especially Yaounde, Douala and Bafoussam.
