Two relatives of a frontline leader of the Ambazonia separatist movement are expected to appear in court on Tuesday September 10 for the first time since they were arrested.

The mother and sister of separatist leader Chris Anu will appear at the Mfoundi High Court on Tuesday after their lawyers filed for a prove of life and their immediate release.

80-year old Grace Mafuantem and Beza Berist, respectively mother and sister of Chris Anu have been in detention at the Secretariat for Defence at the National Gendarmerie since August 3 when they were arrested at their residence in Yaounde.

Security forces arrested them after a search operation was carried out at the residence with about FCFA 1.6 million discovered in the house.

Reports say security forces suspect them of keeping money paid from ransom taking in the Anglophone regions.

Chris Anu who is the Secretary of Communication for the for a faction of the Ambazonia separatist movement also has a brother, Lekeaka Oliver aka Field Marshall, who is one of the frontline rebel leaders in the Lebialem Division.
