At least 45 Boko Haram fighters are said to have been killed and arms seized in Fotokol, Far North Region of Cameroon.

Cameroon’s army in a statement on Thursday, claimed killing the 45 fighters of the Islamist sect in a retaliatory raid. T he military said the casualties inflicted on the insurgents happened during a mopping up operation in Fotokol.

Going by the statement, Tuesday’s operation was in retaliation for an attack by Boko Haram at a command post in Sagme occupied by the African Union (AU) Joint Multinational Force (MNF), in which five troops were killed and three others were wounded.

The army operation also led to the arrest of four suspected insurgents, and the seizure of dozens of arms cache of arms and pick-up trucks.
