2022 World cup qualifications

Ahead of the double encounters against Algeria, for a ticket at the world cup 2022, the indomitable Lions will play with a different face from what we witnessed during the last AFCON due to various absences with surely 4-3-1-2 line-up.

On Friday, March 25, all eyes will be stirred at the Japoma stadium for the much awaited Cameroon vs Algeria 1st leg. The away match will be played on March 29 on Algerian soil.

For this first test Rigobert Song, head coach of the indomitable Lions adapted some slight changes in his first 11. It would be mainly at the midfield level. And this situation can best be explained by the absence of midfielder, Franck Zambo Anguissa, injured. Knowing the charisma of the Fennecs of Algeria, Rigobert Song will no doubt bring out a compressive midfield in his line up. Playing just beneath the defensive line will be Oum Gouet. Playing as the team’s sentinel, he will work at stabilizing the game and putting the ball forward.

By his side, playing at the edges, probably Jean Onana at the left side and Martin Hongla at the right side. Both will help in carrying the team’s game forward and more importantly assure a strong pressing on Algerians; knowing that they have defensive potential.

Ahead of them in the middle, we can expect Eric Maxime Choupo-Moting over Moumi Ngamaleu, equally injured. He is known for his speed in the game and capacity to add fluidity in the game. This intelligence in the Cameroonian midfield could be juicy for forwards who could begin the match.

Possible line-up

We should be expecting Aboubakar Vincent and Karl Toko Ekambi. Captain Aboubakar will fix in the heart of the Algerian defense as he can score even on a missing ball while Toko will be a sub-forward with role to threaten the Fennecs both at their left or right sides.

The back four will probably remain the same with Ngadeu Ngadjui and Jean Charles Castelletto who had some remarkable performances during the last AFCON. Same thing for Fai Collins and Nohou Tollo to produce the defensive and offensive energy at edges. In between the sticks André Onana remains number one.

Rigobert Song it should be recalled has a squad with quality where solutions can come from at any second in the game. With forwards like Kevin Soni and Gaël Ondoa or the maturity of midfielders like Arnaud Djoum and Kunde Malong, the team has enough jokers to bring down this Algerian team and stand tall and present in Qatar.
