The esplanade of the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Douala, will be jam packed today with visitors from far and near who have come to pay their last respects to Christian Cardinal Tumi, the deceased Archbihop Emeritus of Douala.
The mortal remains of the prelate will be removed from the mortuary of the Douala Military Hospital in Bonanjo with several masses set to be held befor the burial tomorrow.
Ahead of the funeral, priests from across Cameroon as well as Africa arrived Douala on Sunday to bid farewell to a man they looked up to as a mentor.
At least five Bishops from Africa arrived the country on Sunday, notably Mgr Louis Portella Mbuyu, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Kinkala, Pool Division in the South Region of Congo, Mgr Yves Marie Monot, Bishop of Ouesso, Congo and Mgr Anatole Milandou, Archbishop of Brazzaville.
The Cardinal and Archbishop of Ouagadougou, Mgr Philippe Ouedraogo equally arrived Douala on Sunday while a strong delegation from Nigeria equally arrived yesterday.
Several home-based prelate also arrived Douala on Sunday, notably Bishops of the Garoua Ecclessiastical Province with Mgr Barthelemy Yaouda, Bishop of Yagoua and Mgr Bruno Ateba Edo, Bishop of Maroua-Mokolo.
The Bishops of the other ecclessiatical provinces, Bertoua (03), Bamenda (06), Yaounde (04), Douala (05) etc all arrived Douala on Sunday ahead of the funeral.
