Aboubakar Abbo Wakili, Mayor of the Belel Council in the Adamawa region of Cameroon has made known his intentions to stand as candidate in the upcoming race for national President of the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon, UCCC.
His candidacy was unveiled during the ordinary general assembly of the UCCC for the North chapter that took place Saturday July 4, 2020 in Garoua.
To this assembly, Mayor Aboubakar Abbo who is equally Board Chair of the Cameroon Railways Corporation, CAMRAIL led a big delegation of Mayors coming from many regions of the country.
His candidacy was endorsed by some of them, including Mayor Jacquis Kemleu Tchabgou of the Dschang Council in the West region of Cameroon.
He presented Mayor Aboubakar Abbo as the Mayor with the best profile to head the national bureau of the United Councils and Cities association of Cameroon, citing his contact list and achievement at the head of the UCCC for Adamawa as enough reason.
Speaking after the gathering, Mayor Aboubakar Abbo disclosed that his immediate plans for the association are the construction of a National UCCC headquarters in Yaounde, a hotel for Mayors and last but not the list, the organisation of a National Forum for the Presentation of matured council projects to potential funders including the Government, the National Community-Driven Development Programme, PNDP and FEICOM.
Born in Belel in the Vina Division Adamawa region of Cameroon, Aboubakar Abbo is a Council magistrate who is passionate about issues on decentralisation.
He is a holder of a Master’s II in the Management of decentralized local communities and is about to defend his Ph.D on the Law of Decentralization in Cameroon at the University of Yaounde II, Soa.
The civil administrator strongly believes all Councils in Cameroon have enough resources to grow and prosper. All they need, he says is to be organised.
