Cameroon’s Head of State, Paul Biya has vowed to continue military crackdown on English-speaking separatists in the country.
President Biya made the remark Thursday while chairing a ministerial council session at the Unity Palace.
“Efforts (of the security forces) must be continued, especially to ensure a return of normal economic and social activity,” Biya told his Ministers during the meeting.
Many political pundits are of the opinion that by settling for military solution to a purely political problem will only further the already escalating crisis.
During the meeting, the Head of State equally laid emphasis on the need to: combat insecurity in the Far North Region, accelerate the decentralisation process and ensure the smooth organisation of upcoming elections in Cameroon. He also tasked his Minister to take measures to reinforce the performance of the economy, improve the living standards of all Cameroonians and reduce unemployment.
Firm instructions were given to the Members of Government to use State resources rationally and intensify the fight against corruption.
