Adolphe Lele L’Afrique, Governor of the North West Region, has signed another order restricting movements of persons and goods in the North West Region.

This is the umpteenth time the Governor is taking such a decision following growing threats from both secessionists and security officers. According to the release signed today March 12, the new order became operational as from March 11 to further notice.

In the release, the Governor urge the population to respect the current order while aiding the security forces to put an end to separatists activities in the region.

The North West Region of Cameroon, has been the new hub for violent clashes between security officers and separatists. Recently, two government officials were kidnapped from Batibo, a sub division in the region by secessionists. One of them, Annibomb Arong, North West Regional Delegate for Social Affairs was over the weekend, seen in a video calling on the government to come to his aid.

It would be recalled that the escalating crisis in Anglophone Cameroon has sent many packing, all in the bid to seek peace and refuge in neighboring Nigeria. UN refugee agency says it has registered more than 20.000 Cameroonians so far in Nigeria’s  Cross River and Benue States.
