Cameroon’s Indomitable Lioness will toady come up against the Female Eagles of Mali to decide who wins the 3rd place for the 11th Edition of the Total Africa Women’s Cup of Nations 2018.
Their meeting today at the Cape-coast Stadium in Ghana will not be the first, as the two teams have already battled each other once already in the tournament. In that first meeting, it was the Indomitable Lioness that reigned supreme. They came from a goal behind to beat the Malians by two goals to zero.
After beating Mali in their opening group match, the lioness went on to defeat Algeria before eventually playing a one all draw with host nation Ghana. Those result qualified them out of Group A as table toppers. They could however not go past Nigeria in the semi-finals as they failed the test of the penalty shootout on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Mali recovered from opening day defeat to beat host nation Ghana in their second match before going on to pick another 3 points in their five-goal thriller with Algeria. They were however handicapped in the semi-finals by South Africa.
Today’s 3rd place winner will also gain a world cup qualification spot.
