At least thirty persons are reported to have been kidnapped in Bangourain, Noun Division of the West region of Cameroon by unidentified gun men.
The captives, mostly fishermen were abducted by ten heavily armed men who transported them with three canoes through the waters, sources said.
However, two of the kidnappers were apprehended by local vigiante groups and handed to security forces for further investigations.
The identity of the kidnappers are not yet known though armed separatists in the North West region are prime suspects given that Bangourain shares boundary with the North West region.
Local administrative officials were on the scene this morning while security forces have launched search operations to find and rescue the captives.
