Frida Ndumu was burnt alive during an operation by security forces to track down separatists in the locality of Boa Bakundu, Meme Division in the South West Region of Cameroon.

According to reports, security forces had inside information of the presence of separatist forces in Boa Bakundu and other surrounding villages.

The security forces thus launched an assault on Boa, Bombele and Ngumu Ngumu where they burnt down some houses and property forcing residents to flee their homes and takes refuge in bushes.

In the course of the operation, Frida Ndumu, an octagenarian who could not help herself was burnt to ashes by the fire set on the houses by the security forces, locals said.

The villagers only returned to put off the fire after the security forces had taken off but could not help but weep over the remains of Frida Ndumu.

This is the second time in just a month that an elderly person is burnt down by security forces in the South West Region.

96-year old Mama Appih was burnt to ashes by security forces in her residence in Kwa Kwa as during an assault to crack down on separatist forces in the area.
