The leader of the Now Movement, Barrister Akere Tabeng Muna has declared he is ready for the 2018 Presidential election scheduled for October 7, 2018.

He made the declaration on Monday shortly after the Head of State Paul Biya convened the electorate to the polls on October 7.

“This news comes as not much of a surprise, since this is in conformity with the applicable laws. We in our team are prepared, ready and determined,”Akere said in a statement.

“I must admit, however, that my mind is not at peace due to information coming from the North West and South West regions. Before our very eyes, these regions have been sliding into a situation of quasi-war for more than a year. Our determination is therefore reaffirmed, because I know that by choosing the path of inclusive dialogue in the spirit of love and reconciliation, we will see the advent of a New Republic” he stated.

He further said: “These elections offer us an opportunity to save lives, to save our country and bring back hope. The ballot should be our only bullet to win the only war worth fighting – the war for the hearts of the Cameroonian people. ”

He has not officially dropped his files to run but is expected to do so in the coming week after incumbent Paul Biya dropped his file on Friday as well as Cameroon Renaissance Movement leader Maurice Kamto.
