Aaron Wainanchi, the abducted Inspector of Basic Education for Belo in Boyo Division of the North West Region and John Odi, Secretary General of Nguti Council in Kupe-Muanenguba Division of the Southwest Region of Cameroon have both been liberated from captivity by elements of the Ambazonia Defence Forces (ADF).
Wainanchia was abducted by the ADF on April 2, while on his way to the office and was later released on April 3, 2018.
Confirming his release to reporters in Bamenda on April 4, 2018, the sister of the abducted Inspector, Hon. Wainanchi Honourine, said the miraculous release of her brother is all thanks to God. She expressed gratitude that their brother returned to them in good condition.
Meanwhile, despite the elation of Hon. Wainanchi, the now liberated Belo Inspector of Basic Education refused to talk to press on his kidnapped and possible release.
On his part, the Secretary General of the Nguti Council, who was also kidnapped some weeks ago, has also been freed.
The Nguti Municipal Scribe emerged in Kumba enjoying his new-found freedom after several weeks in captivity.
When Odi, who is also a traditional ruler in his area, was accosted by the press for an interview the circumstances that led to his abduction and his possible release from the hands of his abductors, the Council Scribe wriggled his way out of the view of press and vamoosed without granting any interview.
It would be recalled that after the traditional ruler was kidnapped rumors went wild that his abductors were demanding for a ransom of FCA 5.2 million. Tongues are already wagging that the Municipal Secretary General may have negotiated for his release and is reticent to grant any interview for fear of the unknown.
