Candidates gunning for Cameroon’s Presidential seat have officially started campaigns.
This according to section 87: (1) of the country’s electoral code which states that the election campaign shall open on the 15th (fifteenth) day preceding the election and close at midnight on the eve of the election day.
Despite Cameroon’s ongoing worsening anglophone crisis, the candidates say they are bent on wooing voters to their favor in all regions regardless. According to reports, Professor Maurice Kamto of the Cameroonian Renaissance Movement party will be holding a grand rally in Bonaberi, while Joshua Osih of the SDF will begin his campaign rally in Wouri and extend to the Moungo Division Littoral region of Cameroon.
Meanwhile, Barrister Akere Muna will be briefing the public on his republican values at the Yaounde Conference centre, September 22, 2018 as from 9AM.
Candidates like Cabral Libii of UNIVERS party, Adamou Ndam Njoya and Garga Haman Adji are yet to make their campaign program known. However, Biya’s CPDM faithfuls indicate they are position all accros the country to make their presence felt. Prime Minister Philemon Yang will lead Biya’s campaign in the restive North West Region while Peter Mafany Musonge is set to lead in the South West region.
