The confederations cup trophy arrived Cameroon yesterday June 1.

The trophy is in Cameroon as part of a world tour in accordance with a tradition of the World Football governing body, FIFA which covers the eight countries participating in this competition. As current African champions, Cameroon, is taking part in the event alongside seven other nations.
The five-time African champion, will be representing the African continent at the championship and will play in Group B alongside Germany, Australia and Chile.

The Confederations Cup is held as a “best of the best” tournament for the winners of each confederation. Other nations to qualify include Russia (host), Germany (2014 FIFA World Cup winners), Chile (Copa America winners), Mexico (CONCACAF winners), New Zealand (OFC winners) and Portugal (UEFA Euro winners). The competition is expected to begin on June 17 and will run through July 2, 2017.  The Confederations Cup is organized every four years. The host nation, which is Russia this year, is usually the nation set to host the next edition of the World Cup.
